Enterprises adopt Model Context Protocol to connect AI agents to data

Several technology companies are expanding the utility of the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open standard released by Anthropic to connect AI agents to backend data and services.

NETSCOUT has integrated MCP connectivity into its Omnis AI Insights solution. This allows AI assistants to access real-time, AI-ready Smart Data, providing the necessary context for more accurate decision-making in sectors such as telecommunications, financial services, and healthcare.

Rubrik has launched Rubrik MCP to provide AI agents with a secure, programmable path to the company’s data, identity, and application intelligence. The system includes guardrails aligned with the OWASP MCP Top 10 to maintain security through role-based access control.

Additionally, the emergence of WebMCP is facilitating remote-ready enterprise workflows. While traditional MCP often uses standard input/output for local testing, WebMCP utilizes HTTP and server-sent events to allow for remote deployment, browser compatibility, and integration with enterprise networking and security stacks.
