Model Context Protocol establishes open standard for AI tool integration
The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is emerging as an open standard designed to solve integration bottlenecks between AI applications and external data sources. By providing a uniform interface, MCP allows AI systems to interact with tools, databases, and APIs—such as GitHub, Jira, and internal enterprise services—without requiring custom, point-to-point plumbing for every new connection.
In practical application, the koh/webmcp package has been developed to integrate this protocol with TYPO3 websites. This integration enables AI agents to interact with TYPO3 sites in a structured manner through built-in tools for navigation, search, and page content retrieval. The implementation includes security features such as CSRF nonce protection, input validation, and access control, while remaining compatible with full-page caching.
