Model Context Protocol expands as Nutanix launches MCP server
The Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open standard introduced by Anthropic, is gaining traction as a unified layer for connecting AI applications to external data and tools. By providing a standardized way for AI to access files, databases, and SaaS platforms like Slack and GitHub, the protocol reduces the need for developers to build custom integrations for every individual service.
Nutanix has announced the launch of an MCP server for its Nutanix Cloud Platform (NCP). This open-source implementation allows AI agents and developer tools to interact with NCP through the Nutanix Prism v4 API. The solution is designed to act as a secure passthrough, translating natural language requests from AI assistants—such as Claude Code or GitHub Copilot—into precise infrastructure API actions while enforcing existing corporate security and access policies.
