Model Context Protocol Update Enables Stateless AI Integration for Enterprises

The Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open‑source standard that lets AI systems interact with external tools and data, received its most significant specification update since its launch. The core protocol is now stateless, removing the need for session‑bound requests and addressing long‑standing scalability concerns for enterprise deployments. Additional enhancements include multi‑round‑trip requests, header‑based routing, cacheable list results, hardened authorization, a formal extensions framework and a deprecation policy that guarantees at least a 12‑month notice before feature removal.

Atlassian announced that its Trello productivity platform now supports MCP, allowing AI assistants such as Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini and Cursor to create boards, add and move cards, build checklists and summarise tasks via a simple URL paste and natural‑language prompts. The integration requires no coding or OAuth setup, aiming to streamline AI‑driven workflow automation for both business and personal users, with a particular focus on India's growing startup and gig‑economy ecosystem. The move reflects a broader shift toward embedding AI agents across non‑developer tools within the enterprise landscape.
