Modena leads export growth in Emilia-Romagna

Modena has recorded the highest export growth among the three major industrial provinces in Emilia-Romagna. During the second quarter of 2026, Modena's foreign sales approached 5 billion euros, marking a 6.1% increase compared to the same period in 2025.

While Bologna maintains the highest total value at 5.42 billion euros (a 2.9% increase) and Reggio Emilia reaches 3.43 billion euros (a 1.7% increase), Modena is showing the most sustained progression. However, the growth rates for these provinces remain below the national average of 7.7%.

Data indicates a significant acceleration in sales toward the Mercosur region, which saw a 32.8% increase across Emilia-Romagna, Tuscany, Lazio, Marche, Umbria, and Abruzzo. Specifically, exports to Uruguay rose by 74.9% and Paraguay by 82.6%. Conversely, sales to the United States, the region's primary commercial destination, decreased by 1.1%, while exports to the Middle East fell by 18.9%.
