Modena merchants maintain operations despite security alerts

Local merchants in Modena chose to remain open on Friday despite high security alerts and fears of potential unrest. Although some businesses considered preventive closures due to announced demonstrations, the president of Fiepet Confesercenti Modena, Mauro Rossi, stated that the community decided not to yield to fear.

Law enforcement agencies, including the Police, Local Police, and Guardia di Finanza, established a red zone and maintained a heavy presence in the historic center and near schools to prevent disorder. While a small group of youths gathered in Piazza Roma in the afternoon, no significant disturbances or subversive activities were reported, and the city remained functional.
