Modena officials demand clarity over public lighting management

Political representatives in Modena are calling for clarity regarding the management of public lighting services following allegations of budgetary damage. Fratelli d’Italia regional coordinator Michele Barcaiuolo stated that the matter involves long-standing contract assignments and extensions that require serious investigation by competent authorities.

Barcaiuolo addressed concerns regarding the ‘Legge Foti’, noting that while the law aims to clarify the responsibilities of public administrators and prevent decision-making paralysis, it is not a ‘general safe conduct’ that absolves politicians of their choices. The controversy centers on the legitimacy of service extensions granted to Hera Luce. Elisa Rossini, vice head of the Fratelli d’Italia group in the City Council, criticized attempts to deflect political responsibility for the alleged financial losses.
