Modena police intercept theft at recycling center
Local police in Modena intercepted two individuals attempting to steal metal materials from the ‘Magnete’ waste collection station. The suspects were caught loading kilograms of electric cables and other metal objects into a van.
This incident is part of an intensified crackdown by the local police across several recycling centers, including Leonardo, Magnete, Calamita, and Archimede. Since the beginning of the year, these increased patrols have resulted in 14 reports and one arrest.
Environment Councilor Vittorio Molinari stated that these thefts constitute a criminal offense and cause collective harm by reducing the revenue generated from selling recycled materials, which helps offset waste management costs.
