Modena political developments regarding civic participation and hospital planning

In Modena, Mayor Alessio Mantellassi has assigned new civic participation roles to Marco Dicuio, the leader of the Alleanza Verdi e Sinistra group. Dicuio will oversee the Participatory Budget, the Neighborhood Council Project, and various participatory processes. The Mayor emphasized that these roles are intended to foster dialogue between the administration and citizens, ranging from the city center to outlying hamlets.

Separately, the Democratic Party (PD) in Modena has raised concerns regarding the proposed 550 million euro investment plan for local healthcare. PD leader Diego Lenzini has cautioned against the potential relocation of essential functions from the Policlinico hospital to a new hub in Baggiovara. Lenzini argued that emergency and urgent care services must remain within the city and insisted that any strategic decisions regarding the restructuring of healthcare facilities must be made through collective participation and the new Local Action Plan (PAL).
