Modena supermarket raided by group of 50 youths

A group of approximately 50 youths raided an MD supermarket in Modena on Tuesday, September 22, shortly after school hours. The group entered the store on via Rainusso, looting food, beverages, and other products from the shelves. The raid lasted about 10 minutes and caused significant distress among customers and employees.

Many of the participants filmed the incident and posted the videos on social media, with some individuals covering their faces to avoid identification. Carabinieri are currently reviewing surveillance footage to identify those responsible.

Modena Mayor Massimo Mezzetti condemned the incident, describing it as a grave matter driven by a “pack logic” and expressing solidarity with the workers. He emphasized the need to address juvenile delinquency and the perceived sense of impunity among minors. The local Democratic Party also called for the investigation of individual responsibilities to ensure that group dynamics are not used to shield single perpetrators from legal consequences.
