Modena trial begins for Campogalliano rave checkpoint incident

A trial has commenced in Modena against six individuals accused of violence and resistance during an illegal rave party held a year ago at the former Bugatti factory in Campogalliano. The defendants, aged between 23 and 38, are residents of Reggio Emilia, Piacenza, Rimini, and Perugia.

Prosecutors allege that as participants attempted to leave the area, the defendants used vehicles to force through a police checkpoint, resulting in injuries to law enforcement officers. One police official sustained contusions but has since been compensated and declined to join the civil suit.

The prosecution has requested prison sentences ranging from 2 years and 4 months to 3 years and 4 months for four of the defendants. For a fifth individual, acquittal was requested, while for the sixth, the defense has requested a probationary period (messa alla prova). The judge is expected to rule on the sixth defendant on March 15, following the review of a Supreme Court ruling regarding associative crimes.
