Modena's AGO Cultural Hub to Open First Spaces on Dec 11, 2026

The former hospital complex in Modena, known as AGO, will begin opening its first cultural spaces on 11 December 2026. The announcement was made at a public event in Piazza Sant’Agostino, highlighting the project’s signature kinetic roof that will convert the Cortile delle Tenaglie into a dynamic, adaptable plaza.

Project leaders include Matteo Tiezzi, president of the Fondazione di Modena, and Mayor Massimo Mezzetti, alongside international architects and designers Carlo Ratti (founder of CRA‑Carlo Ratti Associati), inventor Chuck Hoberman, and critic Aaron Betsky. The inaugural exhibition will feature more than 150 works drawn from the Fondazione AGO collections, the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia’s scientific archives, the Museum of Figurines, and the Gallerie Estensi, supplemented by contemporary loans and specially commissioned pieces from about 50 artists worldwide.
