Modern art exhibitions announced for Palazzo dei Diamanti and MUVEC
Several art exhibitions in Italy are set to explore the evolution of modern art and the representation of the human body.
At Palazzo dei Diamanti, an exhibition starting in September will trace the transformation of European painting from the 19th to the 20th century. The showcase follows the shift from direct nature observation, seen in the Barbizon School and Impressionism, to the abstraction and emotional color use found in Post-Impressionism, Divisionism, and Futurism. Key figures featured in this historical progression include Monet, Van Gogh, Kandinsky, and Mondrian.
In Mestre, the MUVEC – Casa delle Contemporaneità will host “Klimt, Schiele, Kokoschka e il corpo nell’arte contemporanea” from September 26, 2026, to February 14, 2027. Curated by Elisabetta Barisoni, this exhibition focuses on how Viennese artists Gustav Klimt, Egon Schiele, and Oskar Kokoschka utilized the human body to express desire, the unconscious, and individual tensions during the turn of the century.
