Fox greenlights ‘Mammoth’ comedy from ‘Modern Family’ creators

Fox has greenlit ‘Mammoth’, a new live-action comedy series from the creative team behind ‘Modern Family’. The project marks the network’s first live-action comedy order in over two years and is scheduled to debut during the 2027-2028 television season.

Developed by Christopher Lloyd and Danny Zuker, the series is a high-concept remake of a British sitcom by Mike Bubbins. The plot follows Coach Tony Mammoth, a high school gym teacher who was buried in a ski avalanche in 1983 and frozen in time. Upon thawing out four decades later, he attempts to return to his profession, only to find himself struggling to navigate the vastly different social rules and realities of the modern world.

Lloyd and Zuker will serve as writers, showrunners, and executive producers. Production is being handled by Fox Entertainment Studios, with Mark Linsey, Angie Stephenson of BBC Studios Los Angeles, and Mike Bubbins also serving as executive producers.
