Modern Pentathlon World Championships face weather delays in Guiyang

The 2026 Modern Pentathlon Senior World Championships in Guiyang, China, have faced significant disruptions due to heavy rainfall. The weather forced the cancellation of the obstacle course component for safety reasons, altering the competition format for several events.

In the mixed relay, Alice Rinaudo and Roberto Micheli finished in eleventh place with 975 points. The gold medal was won by the South Korean duo Seong Seungmin and Seo Changwan.

Following the resumption of the men's qualifications, Giorgio Malan was the only Italian athlete to advance to the semifinals, finishing tenth in Group A with 1566 points. Other Italian competitors, including Denis Agavriloaie, Matteo Bovenzi, and Roberto Micheli, were eliminated from the competition. The Italian team is projected to finish eleventh in the overall team standings.
