The Tactical Nuke mechanic is returning in Modern Warfare 4, a high-stakes killstreak in the Call of Duty franchise that automatically ends a match upon activation. This reward requires players to maintain a long streak of eliminations without being defeated, serving as a symbol of high skill and altering the gameplay dynamic as opponents attempt to stop the streak.

Recent promotional footage reveals that the extraction method used during the nuke sequence is a modernized version of the Fulton surface-to-air recovery system (STARS), also known as Skyhook. Developed by Robert Edison Fulton, Jr. in 1950 for the CIA, the real-world system utilized inflatable balloons and modified aircraft to extract personnel. This historical technology has been featured in various media, including the Batman films, James Bond, and the Metal Gear video game series.
