Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 coming to Nintendo Switch 2
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is set to launch on the Nintendo Switch 2 on October 23, marking the franchise's return to a Nintendo platform after a decade. Digital Legends, the studio responsible for the Switch 2 port, confirmed at Gamescom 2026 that the game is targeting 60 FPS in docked multiplayer mode, though handheld performance currently sits around 44 FPS.
Technical challenges include managing the game's large file size, which is expected to be approximately 87 GB. Due to this size, the game will likely be a digital download rather than a physical cartridge. The Switch 2 version will also support gyroscopic controls via Joy-Con and Pro controllers.
Early beta testing has revealed visual trade-offs to maintain performance. While the frame rate is stable, users have noted lower resolution textures and visual artifacts compared to high-end consoles like the PS5. Developers stated that work continues to refine image quality and smoothness leading up to the release.
