Moderna issues 3 billion US dollars in convertible notes
Moderna shares rose nearly 10 percent on Tuesday, reaching 154.27 US dollars, following the announcement of a major capital measure. The company has completed a private placement of 3 billion US dollars in zero-interest convertible notes.
According to filings with the SEC, the notes are unsecured, carry no ongoing interest, and are scheduled to mature in March 2032. The placement was finalized after initial buyers fully exercised an option for an additional 400 million dollars. The initial conversion price is set at approximately 211 US dollars per share, representing a premium over recent closing prices.
Moderna intends to use the net proceeds, estimated at approximately 2.96 billion US dollars, to fund its oncology division and support debt reduction efforts.
