Moderna to join Nasdaq-100 replacing Warner Bros. Discovery
Moderna will join the Nasdaq-100 index on October 9, replacing Warner Bros. Discovery. The media company is exiting the index following its merger with Paramount Skydance.
Moderna’s inclusion follows a significant recovery in its share price, which has increased more than fivefold this year. The company’s market valuation has risen to between approximately $75 billion and $82 billion. This surge was driven in part by positive late-stage trial results for a personalized cancer vaccine developed in partnership with Merck, which showed success in delaying disease spread in high-risk melanoma patients.
As a member of the Nasdaq-100, Moderna is expected to see increased demand from exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and other investment products that automatically track the index.
