Modernism Week expands Southern California architectural tours

Modernism Week is expanding its programming through a new series of curated regional day trips across Southern California. These small-group excursions, which begin in late September, are designed to showcase the architectural and historical significance of the region.

Upcoming itineraries include a Pasadena Heritage tour focusing on midcentury residential design by architects such as Richard Neutra and John Lautner, as well as trips to Los Angeles to view Frank Lloyd Wright’s Hollyhock House and the Neutra Colony. Other planned excursions will explore the influence of Millard Sheets in Claremont and visit locations in La Jolla and Riverside.

Additionally, Modernism Week returns to Palm Springs from October 15-18. The event features various walking tours through historic neighborhoods like the Movie Colony, which contains a mix of Spanish, Colonial Revival, and early Modernist homes. The programming highlights the area's architectural history and its connection to mid-century glamour.
