Modernist Fürstenwalde gas stations remain operational in Poland

Only four Fürstenwalde-style gas stations designed by architect Friedrich Tamms in 1937 remain in the world. While the original model in Fürstenwalde, Germany, is now an abandoned historical monument, three functional stations continue to operate in Poland.

Two of the Polish stations are located near Wrocław on the A4 motorway, having been added to the register of historical monuments in 2012. They currently function as Orlen service stations. The third operational station is located in Kołbaskowo near Szczecin. These structures are characterized by their modernist triangular layout and distinctive V-shaped roofs, designed to integrate with the highway network.
