Modernization Fund supports industrial and heating sector upgrades in Slovakia and Czechia

Slovakia and the Czech Republic are utilizing the Modernization Fund to finance industrial and heating sector upgrades aimed at increasing energy efficiency and reducing environmental impact.

In Slovakia, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Environment Tomáš Taraba announced a 150 million euro call for industrial modernization. The initiative targets industrial enterprises, electricity, heat, and gas suppliers, as well as water companies. Grants range from 300,000 to 5 million euros for building renovations and from 1 million to 30 million euros for technological upgrades. Applications are open until October 16, 2026.

In the Czech Republic, the State Environmental Fund (SFŽP) has distributed significant subsidies for the ecological transformation of heating plants. Supported projects include the installation of large heat pumps, biomass boilers, and network reconstructions. Major recipients include ČEZ, Veolia, and Teplárna Otrokovice. Specifically, Energotrans (a ČEZ Group company) is slated to receive 687 million CZK for heat pump technology, while Veolia Energie ČR received nearly 300 million CZK for heat distribution modernization in several cities.
