Modi Cabinet reshuffle expected with 15-17 new members

Speculation is growing regarding a major reshuffle of the Modi Cabinet, with reports suggesting that 15 to 17 new faces could be inducted into the ministry. This potential expansion could see several veteran ministers replaced by younger members.

Key rumors include a possible promotion for Ashwini Vaishnaw, who currently manages the Railways, Information and Broadcasting, and IT ministries, potentially moving him into a top-tier position. Additionally, there are discussions regarding a change in the ministerial portfolio for Nitin Gadkari.

The reshuffle may also address the distribution of workloads, as several current cabinet ministers hold multiple portfolios. With the current cabinet consisting of 69 ministers and a legal limit of 81, there are 12 vacant positions available for filling. Analysts suggest these changes may be influenced by upcoming assembly elections in states such as Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Punjab.
