Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulates United States on 250th Independence Day

Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted on X on July 4, extending warm congratulations to President Donald Trump and the American people on the United States’ 250th Independence anniversary. In his message, Modi said India and the United States share more than a strategic partnership, citing shared commitment to democracy, the rule of law and the “limitless potential” of their peoples, and called the friendship “a force for global good.” He wished that “the next 250 years bring even greater prosperity, peace and progress for America and take the India‑US partnership to new heights.”

The Indian mission in New York also issued a greeting, and the Indian Navy dispatched INS Sudarshini to the United States to take part in the Sail250 tall‑ship celebrations in New York, Boston and Baltimore, showcasing India’s maritime heritage and reinforcing naval cooperation.

Other foreign leaders marked the semiquincentennial as well. Israel’s President Isaac Herzog, UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Saudi King Salman, Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah el‑Sisi, Qatar’s Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif each sent congratulatory messages, praising America’s democratic values and reaffirming bilateral ties.
