Modi River flooding strands three people at Annapurna Temple

Heavy overnight rainfall has caused the Modi River to flood in the Kaski district, leaving three people, including a priest, stranded at the Mata Annapurna Temple. The temple is situated on a mound in the middle of the river, and two metal bridges on either side have been swept away by the rising waters.

Rescue operations are currently underway. An Armed Police Force team and a 13-member disaster management team have been deployed to the site. Authorities warned that continued rainfall could increase the river's flow, potentially sweeping away the mound and the temple itself.

In addition to the temple incident, the flooding has eroded roads near Birethanti in Annapurna Rural Municipality 8, causing complete disruption to the Nayapul, Birethanti, and Ghandruk road sections.
