Modica hosts Erasmus+ youth exchange on democratic participation

Thirty young people from Italy, Lithuania, Poland, Bulgaria, and Turkey recently participated in an Erasmus+ youth exchange titled ‘The Skills Behind Democracy’ in Modica, Italy. The initiative, organized by the local association Key Life and funded by the European Union and the Italian Youth Agency, aimed to promote inclusive participation and strengthen democratic culture skills.

Participants engaged in a week of non-formal education activities designed to simulate daily democratic practices. The program concluded with a public event at Marina di Modica and a visit to the municipal administration at Palazzo San Domenico. Leonardo Storaci, president of Key Life, noted that the project sought to provide tools for democratic participation, addressing the barrier where participation can feel like a skill reserved for a few rather than an accessible right for all.
