Modica IGP chocolate featured at Brussels tasting event

The Consorzio di Tutela del Cioccolato di Modica IGP participated in ‘The Spirit of Fine Pairing’ event in Brussels. Organized by SpiritsEUROPE in collaboration with oriGIn EU, the event focused on pairing Geographical Indication (GI) spirits with iconic European agri-food products.

Two specific varieties of Modica IGP chocolate were featured: 60% dark chocolate and 60% dark chocolate with Sicilian citrus. The products were included in two distinct tasting paths. In the ‘Taste of Italy’ section, the chocolate was paired with traditional Italian spirits such as Amaro Montenegro, Disaronno Originale, Costa d’Amalfi Lemon Liqueur, Vecchia Romagna Brandy, and Grappa Cellini. In the ‘Balkan Traditions’ section, it was paired with Southeast European spirits including Ouzo, Tsipouro, Rakija, and Metaxa.

The participation aimed to demonstrate the versatility of the Sicilian product and its ability to complement diverse gastronomic traditions and aromatic profiles across Europe.
