Modica region reports multiple incidents including facility investigation and concert delay

Several distinct events have been reported in the Modica region. Following an investigation by the NAS Carabinieri of Ragusa, a socio-assistive facility for individuals with disabilities, Anffas Modica, has faced serious allegations. Authorities reported finding rodents inside bags of sweets intended for guests. Seven individuals, including the association's president, have faced legal measures including house arrest and work bans, amid accusations of aggravated maltreatment and the unauthorized practice of nursing.

In cultural news, the PFM – Premiata Forneria Marconi concert at the Auditorium Mediterraneo has been postponed from August 11 to August 18, 2026. The delay is due to flight cancellations caused by volcanic activity from Mount Etna, which prevented band members and staff from reaching Sicily. Additionally, a new ‘Little Free Library’ in Marina di Modica has seen rapid book depletion, prompting organizers to remind the community of the ‘donate a book, take a book’ principle.

In a separate workplace incident in Scicli, a driver was injured after being pierced by a pair of work scissors while exiting a truck at a fruit and vegetable processing company. The individual was transported to the hospital for treatment.
