Modica's Historic Center Committee leaves advisory board

The Comitato Centro Storico has withdrawn from the Permanent Technical Advisory Board in Modica. The committee announced it will not attend the meeting scheduled for August 31 following ten sessions that failed to resolve three critical issues: the survey of municipal properties, parking regulations in the historic center, and the progress of the General Urban Plan.

Local Democratic Party officials have criticized the move, describing the situation as a failure of the municipal administration. Carmelo Blanco, vice secretary of the Modica Democratic Party circle, stated that opening consultative bodies without defining specific competencies, timelines, or implementation tools turned the dialogue into a sterile exercise. He characterized the technical board as having become a mere simulacrum of actual consultation due to a lack of strategic vision regarding demographic decline, commercial desertification, and mobility.
