Modou Ngom convicted in fatal Ohio interstate pileup
Modou Ngom, a 50-year-old truck driver based in Columbus, has been found guilty in Delaware County, Ohio, for his role in a fatal multi-vehicle collision on Interstate 71. The accident occurred on April 11, 2026, in a construction zone, where Ngom’s Freightliner semi-trailer struck several stationary or slow-moving vehicles, triggering a nine-car pileup.
The collision resulted in the deaths of Luke Soposki, 37, his wife Dr. Lynnea Soposki, 36, and their one-year-old son, Logan. Several others were injured, including a pregnant woman who required an emergency cesarean section following the crash.
During the trial, investigators noted that Ngom failed to slow down or apply brakes before the impact. While the defense argued that the truck was swerving due to its load of water pallets and that another vehicle had cut him off, investigators found no evidence to support these claims. Ngom was convicted on three counts of aggravated vehicular homicide and five counts of vehicular injury. He faces a maximum sentence of 22.5 years in prison, with sentencing scheduled for October 29, 2026. Authorities have also noted discrepancies regarding his identity and administrative status.
