Modular architecture projects target affordable housing in Ibiza and Madrid
Architectural projects in Ibiza and Madrid are focusing on flexible, modular designs to address the growing demand for affordable and adaptable housing.
In Ibiza, Stefano Boeri Architetti has won a competition held by the public housing entity Casa 47 to develop Sa Casa. The project, located in Ca n'Escandell, aims to provide approximately 190 affordable rental apartments. The design utilizes four staggered buildings following the local topography, incorporating gardens, terraces, and community spaces to foster social interaction and environmental connection.
In Madrid, Cundinamarca, urban intervention strategies are being proposed to combat housing deficits caused by population growth and migration from larger cities. The plan utilizes modular architecture to create social interest housing that can adapt to user needs. The goal is to integrate neighborhoods through a zoning approach that combines residential units with commercial spaces, green zones, and community facilities.
