Młody Las center in Toruń celebrates 80 years of service

The Młody Las Care and Education Center in Toruń is celebrating its 80th anniversary. Founded in 1946 as a State Youth Home to support children orphaned or displaced by World War II, the institution has evolved over eight decades to meet the changing needs of youth.

To mark the jubilee, Toruń Mayor Paweł Gulewski awarded the center the “Thorunium” Honorary Medal, the city's highest distinction, to Director Violetta Wieczerzak. The ceremony also recognized Anna Czeczko-Durlak, who led the facility for 33 years.

The center currently operates five facilities providing 24-hour care for 70 children and adolescents facing violence, neglect, or difficult family situations. Its mission remains focused on providing safety, stability, and preparing young people for independent life.
