Moeve and ENSO partner for industrial decarbonization
Moeve and ENSO have entered into a strategic partnership to accelerate industrial decarbonization by replacing fossil fuels with renewable alternatives. The collaboration focuses on sectors with high heat and steam demands, such as the chemical, paper, and food and beverage industries, where electrification is often unfeasible.
The alliance aims to develop solutions involving advanced biomass and renewable gases. Key projects include converting biogas plants into biomethane production facilities and developing e-fuels through the valorization of biogenic CO2 captured at bioenergy plants. Moeve may act as a prospective off-taker for the green molecules produced.
One planned application involves replicating ENSO’s model from its Garray plant to adapt the boilers at Moeve’s refinery in Huelva. The partnership seeks to facilitate the necessary capital expenditure for industrial energy transitions, allowing companies to upgrade infrastructure through co-investment frameworks without relying solely on their own balance sheets.
