Moeve to break ground on green hydrogen plant in Huelva

Moeve will break ground on September 17 for a 300 MW renewable hydrogen plant in Palos de la Frontera, Huelva. This facility marks the first phase of the Valle Andaluz del Hidrógeno Verde project.

The company, controlled by Mubadala and The Carlyle Group, aims to deploy a total electrolysis capacity of 2 GW across Huelva and Cádiz. The full project involves an investment of up to 3 billion euros and is expected to create approximately 10,000 jobs, including 1,000 direct positions.

Once fully operational, the hydrogen valley could produce up to 300,000 tons of green hydrogen annually, helping to avoid six million tons of CO2 emissions per year. The hydrogen is intended to decarbonize industrial processes and provide sustainable fuels for heavy transport, maritime, and aviation sectors. To power the electrolysis, Moeve plans to develop 7 GW of solar and wind energy projects.
