Moeve executive advocates for green molecules in energy transition
Jaime Cifuentes, strategy and sustainability director at Moeve, has highlighted the critical role of ‘green molecules’—such as second-generation biofuels and green hydrogen—in the global energy transition.
Speaking at the CREO Forum, Cifuentes argued that while direct electrification is efficient for electric vehicle charging and heat pumps, green molecules are essential for sectors that are difficult to electrify, which account for approximately 33% of European Union emissions. He noted that these molecules offer advantages in energy density, storage, and transportability.
Cifuentes also emphasized the importance of energy independence, stating that sovereignty requires control over the entire value chain, including raw materials, technology, and markets. He called for stable and predictable regulation to foster investor confidence.
