Mogán cave death investigation underway in Gran Canaria

Authorities in Mogán, Gran Canaria, are investigating the death of a 61-year-old woman whose body was discovered in a cave by hikers on August 16. An autopsy conducted by the Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences identified the victim, who resided in a nearby informal settlement.

The investigation is focused on determining whether the death was an accident or a homicide, as a bloody stone was found near the woman's head. The Guardia Civil is leading the inquiry and has conducted several drone searches to inspect the area spanning from the port of Mogán to the access road of the cave.

While all hypotheses remain open, judicial police are currently performing necessary diligences at the scene to clarify the circumstances of the death.
