Mogo/RSU wins OHL season opener against Rīgas HS/Dinaburga

Optibet Hockey League Mogo/RSU Latvian hockey Kaspars Daugaviņš Baltic championship

Defending champions Mogo/RSU opened their Optibet Hockey League (OHL) season with a 4-1 victory over Rīgas HS/Dinaburga in Riga. The win marks a successful return for captain Kaspars Daugaviņš, who recorded two assists in his first Latvian championship game since November 2025.

Ernests Krūms opened the scoring in the 15th minute, followed by Rūdolfs Polcs, who scored twice including a power-play goal to extend the lead to 3-0. Jānis Zemītis added a fourth goal in the 46th minute. Armands Apsītis scored the lone goal for the visitors in the 58th minute. Goaltender Kārlis Mežsargs secured the win by stopping 43 of 44 shots.

The OHL season features teams from Latvia and Lithuania competing in a four-round tournament. The winner of the playoffs will be crowned the Baltic champion, while the top-ranked teams from each country will be recognized as national champions.
