Mogwai announces new compilation and Iggy Pop collaboration

Scottish post-rock band Mogwai has announced a new career-spanning compilation titled ‘Happy Tears’, scheduled for release on January 8, 2027, via their independent label, Rock Action Records.

The collection celebrates the band’s 30-year history and includes highlights, rarities, and previously unreleased material. A central feature of the release is a new single titled ‘Underground’, a collaboration with rock legend Iggy Pop. Pop provided lyrics and vocals for the track, which was arranged by Matt Sweeney.

In addition to the musical release, the band is launching ‘Happy Tears: The Story of Mogwai’, a feature-length audio documentary produced in partnership with Cup & Nuzzle. Narrated by Matt Everitt, the documentary chronicles the band’s three-decade journey. The compilation will be available in various formats, including digital, 2xCD, and a 4xLP edition containing additional tracks and remixes.
