Mohamed Ali addresses election fraud investigation

Mohamed Abdukardir Ali, a newly elected Member of Parliament for the Left Party, has addressed a police investigation regarding suspected election fraud linked to his personal vote campaign in Borlänge. Ali stated on Facebook that the recent reporting has been “very taxing, both personally and politically” and emphasized that his request for a two-week leave of absence should not be interpreted as an admission of guilt or a resignation from his duties.

Ali defended his campaign activities, asserting that he was active in door-to-door campaigning and voter contact across various locations in Dalarna, including Ludvika and Falun. He also expressed concern over how his background and previous financial situation have been highlighted in public discourse, suggesting that such scrutiny may not be applied equally to all politicians.

Investigative reports have raised questions regarding Ali's professional history, including claims that he presented himself as the founder and CEO of a company, Verisom, which could not be located in official registries. Additionally, reports noted his previous legal challenges regarding Swedish citizenship and ongoing debt restructuring.
