Mohamed Ali Zoma to undergo shoulder surgery
Mohamed Ali Zoma, the top scorer for 1. FC Nürnberg, will be sidelined until at least the winter break following a shoulder injury. The 22-year-old attacker dislocated his shoulder during a 1-1 draw against Energie Cottbus.
Zoma has been a key figure in Nürnberg's successful start to the 2026/2027 2. Bundesliga season, scoring seven goals in his first eight matches. His injury comes at a critical time for the second-placed club, as he is expected to miss approximately half of the first half of the season, including upcoming matches against 1. FC Kaiserslautern, 1. FC Heidenheim, and Magdeburg.
Sport director Joti Chatzialexiou confirmed that Zoma will undergo surgery soon, stating that the club provides full support for the player. The club is also dealing with the previous long-term absence of midfielder Finn-Ole Becker, who is recovering from meniscus surgery.
