Mohamed Chouki denies allegations and pursues legal action

Mohamed Chouki, president of the National Rally of Independents (RNI) party, has announced he is taking legal action following recent allegations regarding his reputation. In a public statement, Chouki denied the claims, describing them as ‘devoid of truth’ and asserting that the widespread circulation of such rumors does not grant them legitimacy.

Chouki emphasized his respect for freedom of expression and the right to criticism, but maintained that these rights must not infringe upon individual dignity or reputation. He stated he would pursue legal complaints against anyone proven to be involved in fabricating, publishing, or promoting these claims.

The controversy follows a reopening of an investigation by the Fes Court of Appeal regarding a complaint filed by former MP and former head of the Oulad Tayeb commune, Rachid El Faiq. The complaint involves allegations of extortion and threats during the 2021 election campaign, including a dispute over approximately 100 million centimes of an election budget. Chouki has categorically denied all such allegations, leaving the matter to the judicial system for resolution.
