Mohamed Diawara faces key preseason test with New York Knicks
New York Knicks forward Mohamed Diawara is expected to face increased scrutiny during the upcoming NBA preseason. After appearing in 69 games as a rookie, Diawara averaged 3.6 points and 1.4 rebounds in 9.2 minutes per game.
Knicks coach Mike Brown noted that while Diawara showed promise as a versatile player with a 36.9% three-point shooting average, he often appeared “a little jittery” on the court. Brown indicated that the 21-year-old needs to take a step forward by playing with more composure and decision-making ability rather than relying on a single speed.
The preseason serves as a critical opportunity for the Knicks to evaluate whether Diawara can transition from a limited role into a reliable rotation player who can handle defensive assignments and offensive responsibilities alongside veteran teammates.
