Mohamed Pope Kamara fined for contempt of court

A Sierra Leonean High Court has fined Mohamed Pope Kamara, the former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Peoples Congress (APC), Le10,000 for contempt of court. Justice Adrian Fisher issued the ruling after finding Kamara in breach of an interim injunction granted on August 27, 2026.

The injunction prohibits certain executive members of the APC from identifying themselves as official officers, convening meetings, or participating in the party’s day-to-day administration. Kamara was found to have violated these terms by identifying himself as a national officer during video interviews and publishing an article regarding party functions.

During the proceedings, Kamara pleaded guilty to the contempt charge, apologized to the court, and retracted his statements. In addition to the fine, Justice Fisher imposed a 60-day ban on Kamara from granting media interviews and publishing on social media. The judge noted that while individuals may speak for themselves, they may not speak on behalf of the APC in violation of the court order.
