Mohamed Salah faces scrutiny at Trabzonspor after Konyaspor defeat

Mohamed Salah is facing intense scrutiny in Egypt following Trabzonspor’s 1-0 defeat against Konyaspor. Egyptian media reports highlight growing calls from Trabzonspor fans for Salah to be appointed team captain to help stabilize the club. Analysts have noted that Salah’s situation is difficult, as the team appears focused primarily on his transfer rather than a cohesive competitive plan.

Despite the loss, Salah has engaged with local culture, visiting the historic Sümela Monastery and exploring the highlands of Maçka to find respite from the intense match schedule.

Statistically, Trabzonspor’s start to the 2026-2027 season has been mixed. With 7 points from the first four matches, the team is currently 3 points behind their championship-winning 2021-2022 campaign at the same stage, though their goal difference remains competitive. Critics have pointed to organizational issues within the squad and the management of technical resources following the recent loss.
