Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah left Liverpool in June 2025 and became a free agent. Discussions collapsed after 21 July when Salah’s agent Ramy Abbas demanded a 50 % share of all Turkish merchandise revenue and the entire profit from sales in Egypt. Beşiktaş sporting director Onder Ozen said the demands exceeded legal limits and the club’s policy, describing them as “illegal” and announcing a temporary withdrawal from the negotiation table. President Serdal Adali confirmed that a formal offer had been presented and that the club would not raise its salary ceiling.

Salah remains linked with other suitors, including Saudi clubs and MLS teams, but Beşiktaş is the only Turkish side still involved. Trabzonspor president Ertuğrul Doğan publicly denied any interest in the player.
