Mohammad Akhteruzzaman Ranjan granted one-day remand
Jamaat-e-Islami leader Mohammad Akhteruzzaman Ranjan was granted a one-day remand on Saturday following his appearance at the Dhaka Chief Judicial Magistrate Court. The remand pertains to allegations involving threats made to the Executive Director of Shahjalal International Airport and the assault of a security supervisor.
Prior to the hearing, Ranjan caused a scene at the court premises by throwing a helmet provided by police, stating he would not follow what he termed an “illegal order.” His arrest followed a viral video in which he was heard making aggressive remarks toward airport officials regarding delays in the supply of Zamzam water to Umrah pilgrims. Ranjan maintained that his actions were a response to mismanagement and asserted that his struggle for people's rights would continue.
