Mohammad Ali Farman, veteran Iranian actor, dies at 78

Mohammad Ali Farman, a veteran Iranian actor of theater, cinema, and television, has passed away at the age of 78. Born in Rasht in 1948, Farman began his artistic career in the mid-1960s.

Farman was a prominent figure in the theatrical communities of both Gilan and Tehran. His extensive career spanned over four decades, during which he acted in and directed numerous notable plays, including ‘AOP Institute’, ‘Guilt’, ‘Praise of the Sea’, and ‘Edip Shahriar’. He also transitioned into cinema with roles in films such as ‘Confession’ (1996), ‘Behind the Mist’ (2004), and ‘Harim’ (2008).

The General Directorate of Performing Arts issued a statement expressing condolences, noting that Farman’s dedication helped shape the identity of Iranian theater and that his mentorship of younger generations left a lasting legacy. A memorial service is scheduled to take place in Rasht at the Sardar Jangal Cultural and Artistic Complex.
