Mohammad Mustafa discusses Palestinian labor market with ITUC
Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa met with Luke Trenagle, General Secretary of the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC), in Ramallah to discuss the state of the Palestinian labor market. The discussions focused on rising unemployment rates and employment challenges in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, exacerbated by economic, social, and security consequences resulting from Israeli measures and the war on Gaza.
Mustafa highlighted the difficulties faced by Palestinian workers, specifically citing restrictions that prevent them from reaching their workplaces. He called for increased international pressure to allow workers to return to jobs they have been barred from for three years and to ensure they receive unpaid financial rights.
The Prime Minister also outlined government efforts to create new job opportunities, develop skills to meet market demands, and implement digital transformation to improve efficiency. Trenagle affirmed the ITUC’s support for Palestine in international forums and pledged to continue defending the rights of Palestinian workers to ensure decent working conditions and improved living standards.
