Mohammad Parsa Golchin released on bail in Iran
Mohammad Parsa Golchin, a University of Tehran student and Olympiad gold medalist, has been released from prison in Mashhad after posting a bail of 2.5 billion tomans. Golchin had been in detention since April 2026 following an arrest in Mashhad.
He faced charges including ‘assembly and collusion against internal security’ and ‘propaganda against national security’ at the Mashhad Public and Revolutionary Court. Reports indicate he was also accused of ‘rebellion’ (baghi). Prior to his arrest, Golchin was known for his critical stances regarding the Iranian government's handling of protesters and the economic situation.
In a separate development involving student activists, 19-year-old Omidreza Heydari, a student at Khorasgan University, has reportedly been sentenced to death by the Isfahan Provincial Revolutionary Court. Heydari was arrested in February 2026 following a raid on his home.
