Mohammed Bellatig named president of Morocco's aerospace group GIMAS

Mohammed Bellatig, an aeronautical engineer and former technical director of Royal Air Maroc, was appointed president of the Moroccan Aerospace Industries Association (GIMAS) effective July 8. Bellatig, who previously served as GIMAS’s first president when the association was founded in 2006, returns to lead the body that coordinates more than 140 aerospace companies in Morocco.

During his career at Royal Air Maroc, Bellatig helped create key joint‑venture partnerships such as SAESM (aircraft engine maintenance), MATIS (aircraft wiring with Boeing and Safran) and Aerotechnic Industries (heavy‑aircraft maintenance with Air France‑KLM). He also chaired the boards of SAESM and Aerotechnic Industries. His re‑appointment comes as Morocco’s aerospace sector continues to attract investment from major manufacturers including Boeing, Airbus, Safran, Collins Aerospace, Hexcel and Spirit AeroSystems.
